Welcome to 5th Grade!! Hello and welcome to Fifth Grade, or as we like to call it, the Big Five! I can't tell you how much I love being a part of the Nye family. My name is Leslie Moreno, and I am looking forward to working with you this year. Born and raised in Middletown, PA, I graduated from Middletown Area High School in 1999, and less than a year later joined the U.S. Navy and served as an Information Systems Technician (IT) for 4 years. I was stationed on shore duty in London and in an Air Squadron in Spain. Throughout this time, I also obtained my BS in Psychology from the University of Maryland, European Division. After separating from the military, I ran a Before-and-After School program for children ages 5-12. Eventually, I became a Pre-K teacher at a Keystone Stars affiliated childcare facility, then was later promoted to Director. It was during this time that I decided to go back to school and become certified to teach. My family and I moved to Philadelphia in 2011, and I was able to complete an MS in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum in addition to a PA Elementary Education Teacher’s Certification (K-6). I am also fortunate enough to have been able to continue my education and attain an English as a Second Language Specialist Certification (ESL).
I live here in Hummelstown with my husband Jesus, who is also a teacher, 16-year-old daughter Yessenia, 9-year-old daughter Lola, and our three cats, Barry, Charlie, and Lex.
